Post PNW Pen Show

This was our second year at the PNW Pen Show and it went much more smoothly than the prior year. The learning curve is steep but we spent time last year picking apart what didn't work and what did and that helped a lot in the planning for this year. We did the same again this year with notes on what we would like to change next year. 

The girls flew up Thursday late afternoon and we went into Portland to celebrate Devons birthday ( people think they're twins, but they're not even related!) Devons birthday was actually the first day of the show and it was a big birthday so I am so thankful that she loves pen show weekend and was willing to spend her day with us. Kurt also came out with me this year to help and we had him working the table with his wood and epoxy pen holders. He had a great time and we only left with two pieces so he made just enough for the show. 

The VIP event went really well in my view. There were plenty of people to keep us busy but not so many that we weren't able to spend some time with someone when they had questions or wanted to chat. There was a dinner afterwards and that also seemed to go well from what I saw. There were classes throughout the event but we didn't have time to attend any of those, so I am hoping everyone enjoy their time because they looked fun. 

Saturday was quite busy as you would expect and we were running out of some items by the end of the day. Not to worry, we had more back up things to choose from!

Sunday was quieter and ended early, which we love because we have a two hour drive home and it's nice to get home at a decent hour after the weekend. 

I was also able to make some connections over the weekend and we are working on bringing in some new lines that I think folks will love ( I hope they do anyway!)

I was given the idea of curating a PNW inspired collection so I am going to work on that now. I have liked trying to assemble inventory from PNW makers but this will give me an opportunity to branch out to more areas. I am looking forward to this, hoping I can get it all together.

Monday and Tuesday were spent reassembling the shop. We are such a small retailer that we take nearly everything with us for some items. The great part is being able to change it all up when we get back. So the displays have been refreshed and some new items I was holding onto are now out on the sales floor. 

Now I have about two weeks to decide on the details for Stationery Store day and get that ready. It's been really busy but this sure is the best job!

P.S. I bought 4 pens at the show! I have not done that in awhile! One of them is the new flexible steel nib from Magna Carta. I plan to keep that in the shop in case you want to try it out when you stop by.
