My Meditative Writing Practice

My Meditative Writing Practice

I love connecting people with pens, fountain pens in particular, since I love them so much. But why do I love them? Some of it is nostalgia and longing for a more analog life but mostly, for me, it's that writing with a fountain pen relaxes me. It's a meditative process for me as it forces me to slow down and think (or don't) while I am writing. The balance and smoothness of putting pen to paper creates a sense of flow for me. I have a busy life and between my 9-5 and this adventure there is not a lot of time for much else. My brain is full by the end of the day! When I sit down to write for just a few minutes it helps all the stress and thinking fall away so I can just BE. I write something everyday...some days all I can manage is a pangram or a description of the pen and ink I am using but that's enough to feel like I took a nice deep breath. I want everyone to experience this, therefore pushing pens at them all the time. It's not for everyone, but for me it's perfect.
