Imagine the history of this pen...

I sometimes buy vintage or antique pens, mostly at auction and when a shipment arrives and I am unpacking I always marvel at these old pens. I once bought a Montblanc 146 from it's original owner who told me it was gifted to him for his college graduation in 1972. He then put it in a drawer not trusting himself to actually use such an expensive pen. Fifty years later he sold it to me. That story kind of bummed me out. I like to think people use these pens all the time (ok, unrealistic...) and I wonder about the places they have been and the people they have belonged to...how many people use a pen over the course of nearly a hundred years? Who was the Soldier named Trout whose pen set from the 1940's sits in my office? Whose home was cleared out when they found the Pilot Elite in Red from the 1970's that clearly has seen a lot of use? Where did the Nurse live that owned the Red band Watermans Nurses pen? Did an accountant use the Watermans red ripple number 7 with the Purple nib? I will never know the answers, but I sure do love that I an the next custodian of these beautiful pens.
