A Vintage Pen!

I was having dinner with my uncle and he asked me what I had been up to that day so I told him I had visited Appelboom in Laren, which led to the conversation about my new adventure buying and selling fountain pens. He was quite excited to go grab a pen he has had for over SEVENTY years…a Sheaffer flat top white dot Lifetime fountain pen. In his case its almost literally been a life time pen for him. He received it used when he went to do his college studies so he was not surprised to hear the pen is about one hundred years old but he was surprised to see what they sell for on the internet and vows to get a new ink sac and clean the pen up! I loved having that conversation with him and talking about all the events in his early life that he used that pen for....interestingly, I also found out he has used the “adaptive tripod grip” (aka, Taylor Swift grip) his whole life. I seem to be running into more and more people who use this grip these days!
